About

Hi! Here’s a bit about me:

I’m a UX designer. I’m fairly new to the field but I’ve already established myself as a fortified designer by creating app and web redesigns. While I can work solo, I enjoy working with a group so we can bounce ideas off of each other and learn from one another.

It’s this team aspect that draws me to create better solutions for businesses that ultimately creates better user experience for their audience.

Degree: M.S. Human Computer Interaction from DePaul University

Why UX?

As a creative, I was looking for a practical way to use my design skills and UX was the answer. While I love designing, particularly setting up wireframes, I’ve come to love the user research aspect of UX design. It makes the process of design more logical and sets up the designer to make better decisions based on actual research.

I also feel I have room to grow as a designer in this field. With every project I feel I’ve gotten closer to being a more refined designer. Slowly but surely, I’ll get better at what I do and will ultimately create better designs that will help more people.

User Research Skills

Contextual Inquiry

I practice using in depth user interview skills to better understand my users. Rather than strictly follow a script, I use my interpersonal skills to follow the lead of my user and uncover key insights that will help define future product development

Inductive Coding + Affinity Mapping

I’m well-versed in Atlas.ai to perform inductive coding but I’ve also utilized other tools for analysis such as Figma AI features, Chat GPT, and Dovetail.

Survey Analysis

I’ve went beyond qualitative analysis and delved into the realm of quantitative studies. My experience lends me to be able to conduct survey studies and analyze them using statistical tools.

User Personas and Journey Mapping

A foundational concept that allows me to define who my users are and help the team align themselves to project goals. Outlining a journey map also helps to define key features of future product development.

Heuristic Evaluations

Heuristic evaluations is an expertise of mine. I’ve even helped evaluate AWS products and help create a better standard.

Information Architecture

My skills in IA have allowed me to make 60+ page websites that are easy to navigate and find what you’re looking for.

Product Design Skills

Accessible Design

I’ve taken Master level courses on Accessibility design and UX research and feel comfortable applying W3C’s guidelines. In the future I intend to get certified in this area of expertise.

Paper Prototyping

My Master’s program has opened my eyes to the fruitful insights of paper prototyping. Using this as the first course of action helps to set up a quick foundation of features without the high effort required for advanced prototyping.

Low Fidelity Wireframing

Since I began my UX journey, I’ve felt this is a very important step in the process of design. I’ve learned the do’s and don’ts of lo-fi development and feel comfortable creating screens that will get me the feedback I need.

High Fidelity Prototyping

This is the part of the design process I enjoy the most. My previous employers all say I have a eye for detail and this is where this skill shines.

Responsive Design

Responsive design has become commonplace in websites but it’s still important to know how to complete this task. From converting images to the right size to scaling objects to fit multiple screens.

Interaction Design

This is the skills I’ve been recently developing the most. I’m leaning into learning how objects interact and even teaching myself animation to provide better responses to users.

Soft Skills

Interpersonal Communication

My previous employers have also told me my interpersonal skills are a driving point for why they keep me around. I’m able to communicate with anyone and everyone and have an easy time handing off my designs to developers.

Independently Motivated

If you couldn’t tell, I’m very passionate about UX and continue to push myself to be better. This is why I went back to school to get a Master’s in Human Computer Interaction.

Team Player

While I’m comfortable working alone, I really thrive when working on a team. It’s great to get feedback from all types of people and learn how to better my designs.

High Design Aptitude

My design skills have only continued to grow with every project I complete. I feel I’m slowly mastering different design concepts from IOS app design to W3C standards.

Presentations

Something my Master’s degree has greatly helped with is growing my presentation skills to a point of having the ability to give a presentation at any given moment. If I need to present to the team, I’ll always be ready.
